About Jennifer & Honest to Dog Training

Growing up, Jennifer was always surrounded by dogs. But it wasn’t until she adopted her first dog as an adult that she truly became fascinated with how dogs think, learn, and experience the world. That curiosity sparked a journey that would shape her entire career.

In 2017, Jen launched her first dog‑related business: a dog‑walking service. Wanting to deepen her knowledge, she enrolled in CATCH Canine Trainers Academy in 2018 and earned her certification in 2020. When the pandemic brought dog‑walking to a halt, Jen shifted fully into training—working with dogs in their homes as well as through a boarding facility offering board‑and‑train programs.

This wide range of hands‑on experience gave Jen a unique perspective on what truly works for dogs. She learned how to help pup‑parents build a lasting, effective language with their canine companions—one rooted in clarity, consistency, and mutual understanding.

Today, Jen offers In-Home 1:1 Training Sessions with dogs and their people, and also overnight intensives, where the dogs get to stay with Jen for the length of program, working 24/7 on maintaining appropriate behaviors in the home and around town, near pets and strangers, and any additional distraction necessary to personalize in‑home training to families throughout McHenry County.

Honest to Dog Training offers lessons in‑home or via Zoom, ensuring each dog learns in an environment that supports the most accurate understanding and long‑term success.

Every session includes:

• Jen working directly with your dog using the tools and techniques best suited to their individual needs

• Guided hands‑on coaching for parents to confidently continue the training
